Touring Camp

“Come right in and make yourself at home!”  Not only is that the opening line to our “Welcome song”, but it also embodies the feeling we have towards our perspective families.

While checking our website is a great way to take a peek at Camps Baco and Che-Na-Wah, there is no substitute for taking a trip to the ADKs and seeing us in person.

Here’s a little spoiler alert of what you’ll experience:

Once you arrive, you will notice the spectacular views.  The vistas of 150 foot tall pine trees and 5 million year old mountains are breathtaking.  From there, our walking tour leads you to many of the amazing elements of camp life.

We will visit the dining hall where three wonderful and nutritious meals are served everyday.  After that, we check out a bunk to see the group living environment that makes for countless memories.  Along the route, we visit many of our programs like arts and crafts, baseball, soccer, tennis, and basketball.  We stop by our social hall to peek in on the drama program and we finish up at our Superdome.

A highlight of every tour is the stop at our gorgeous body of water, Lake Balfour.  While gazing at our fleet of kayaks, canoes, and sailboats as they glide across the water and water skiers who are slicing in and out of the wake, we discuss our Red Cross swim program and other exciting opportunities at the waterfront.  Whatever aspect of camp is your passion, the lake is center of fun and community for all our campers.UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_2ffa

While the setting of camp is perfect, it’s the people the sets Baco apart.  Along the tour we meet countless campers and counselors who are part of our Baco family.  Whether it’s your first year or your 35th (You will meet Mickey!), everyone feels the Baco Pride.  It’s a feeling of comfort and joy that you have found a summer home where lifelong friendships are formed and passions are sparked towards athletics, arts, and nature.
