CNW Waterfront
Here at Che-Na-Wah, we have a variety of waterfront activities, which includes swim, ski, and BCS (boating, canoeing, and sailing). At swim, campers have instructional swim. This is where the lifeguards teach how to do all different kinds of strokes, and help everyone become stronger swimmers. There is also general swim, where we can have fun in the lake with everyone that wants to go in!
Ski is one of the favorite activities at camp. Every camper loves to waterski and the counselors are very helpful. Everyone starts out on the first level, which is boom. You can work your way up through rope, crossing, lifting, dropping, slalom, slalom crossing, and finally slalom spray. Every week the ski staff picks a camper as skier of the week. This is always a hard decision for the ski staff, as the skier of the week is someone who shows improvement, works hard, and is enthusiastic and spirited.
BCS is also one of the camps favorite activities. Campers can row, use a funyak, canoe, or go sailing. For the younger campers, counselors go in the boats with them and show them how everything works. There is one area of the lake called the cove, where everyone can meet up during their BCS period, even if they are in different boats.
Overall, the waterfront activities on Lake Balfour are a large part of what makes camp so special.
